Thanks for the expressions of interest, everyone - looking forward to
receiving things by tomorrow night. In response to queries, we're hoping to
move quite quickly after that.

The client wanted me to pass along the following - note the 'artistic':

'In regards to sending and portfolio's of potential Drupal designers, please
relay to them how much we are a visually-oriented organization. I know the
others will look closely at theming and user interface.. I would also
consider additional design pieces that demonstrate design skill, E.g. other
sites, printed designs, etc. I understand that corporate and political
clients may not help a designer build a portfolio that is "artistic."'

Cheers,

Joe

JMA Consulting recently was engaged to provide a new site to ArtSpan,
(http://www.artspan.org/), San Francisco's premiere non-profit visual arts
organizations responsible for producing San Francisco Open Studios and Art
for City Youth. We are nearing the end of the first scoping and requirements
definition phase, and would like to engage a graphic designer who can
develop a clean, attractive, and extremely usable design for the new site
that builds off the existing logo and brand standards of ArtSpan. Site
designs that ArtSpan likes include http://my.barackobama.com
<http://my.barackobama.com/> , http://www.mint.com/, and
http://www.yelp.com/.

The Drupal/CiviCRM site will include extensive user generated content
including tagged images of artworks, mashups with Google maps, and
e-commerce for membership, event tickets, and donations. Graphic design work
has been separated from its technical implementation.

The selected designer will meet with JMA Consulting and ArtSpan, create
three or four visual concepts for the homepage, refine a selected concept,
and after it is approved, develop page design templates for three additional
wireframe designs (eg image search, user forums, and an e-commerce form). As
the design is implemented by a Drupal themer in css, (x)html, AJAX (dojo,
jQuery, javascript) and custom PHP theming functions as needed, the graphic
designer may be asked for advice on some details. Initial deployment is
scheduled for the end of summer.

Please reply by Thursday, July 10, 2008 with a portfolio of recent website
designs, and anticipated project costs. We're going to evaluate based on
portfolio and to a lesser extent cost, note : a short email is preferred to
a long proposal document.
