[DUG-TO] Ubercart and Paypal??

Hi,
 
I'm trying to set up an eCommerce page where currently the only item is
a renewable subscription. I'm using UberCart and trying to have people
pay for it either by logging into PayPal or just paying with a credit
card. I have a Business account with Paypal but when Ubercart goes over
to PayPal (the sandbox for now) it forces a new member to register for
Paypal if they don't already have an account. That isn't right for what
I want (another barrier that will make people abandon their cart).
Paypal claims that it sees that it's a subscription and forces this
action and that I need to make the item in UberCart look like a single
time purchase. 
 
Has anyone had experience with this and does this sound right? Sounds
weird to me.
