[DUG-TO] 2010 Toronto Conference - New topic/Idea

After a brief chat with Julian, Julian thought the best approach would
be to post this idea and gauge the level of interest.

I am a professional live face-to-face event producer. I currently work
on IT360.ca, itcloudconference.com and the annual Asterisk & Open
Telephony conference sponsored by TAUG (Toronto Asterisk Users Group). I
also produced on their behalf the Global Smalltalk Conference for two
years in Toronto as part of LinuxWorld Canada. 

Would there be an interest in my working with a committee of Drupal
users to create the first annual CANADIAN DRUPAL CONFERENCE? It would be
co-located with our other events on April 7, 2010 at the Metro Toronto
Convention Centre. This event could be Canadian focused and marketed
coast to coast. I would need the committee to work with me on three
elements: content, outreach to other Drupal communities and sponsorship.


I would handle all the operations and logistics including AV, sound,
registration, badging, hotel contracts, space rental and web site
(please forgive me, but it is in Joomla ;-)

This would be a full one day event of international and local leaders in
the DRUPAL community covering key concerns and learning. There would be
a suggested fee range of $249 to $399. Deliverables and timelines would
need to be worked out. There would also be a small revenue stream back
to the Toronto group after registration reach 50 paid delegates that
could be banked to cover the costs of future local Drupal activities.

That's the gist of my idea. If there an interest in supporting this
activity aiming for Wednesday April 7, 2010, then the next step would be
to have a meeting of core volunteers prior to your next monthly or camp.
There is too much to cover in one email, so I'll stop my ramblings now
:-)
