This may even be a topic that can stand on its own merits.

"Contributing back to the community" takes many, many forms, very few of
which are acknowledged as legitimate. This community includes people with a
wonderfully diverse set of skills and talents, though some are
disproportionately over-valued and others under-valued.

This characteristic is IMO an orthodoxy worthy of debate. It's found in many
open source projects, but is strangely exaggerated within Drupal based on my
experience.

I'd be happy to elaborate in a meeting if anyone's interested. If not,
that's OK too.
