I love my Asus, but it's a netbook (1000HE). It's build quality is better
than the Acer, but it's not quite up to my old IBM T42. (Then again, very
little - including most new Lenovo Thinkpads -- are at that level.)

I can't speak for Asus' support because I've not yet needed it.
